Alvaro Martínez

Alvaro Martínez is an accomplished global executive and board advisor with 25+ years of experience driving profitable growth and corporate governance in advanced industrial engineering and process-technology sectors. He has a proven track record of steering multinational strategies, overseeing complex M&A integrations, and delivering sustainable value creation through rigorous operational oversight and commercial excellence.

Mr. Martínez built his career at GEA Group, a world leader in process engineering and technologies for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors. GEA is publicly listed on the German DAX and recognized in leading sustainability indices such as DAX 50 ESG and MSCI Global Sustainability.

Most recently, he served (2015-2025) as CEO for Western Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, and as a member of GEA’s Global Executive Committee. He led a multicultural organization with a presence in more than 30 countries, overseeing strategy, commercial operations, end-to-end project delivery, and financial performance across the entire GEA portfolio. Under his leadership, the region pioneered internal process digitalization through robotic process automation (RPA) and was consistently recognized among top performers in GEA’s annual “Best Country Cluster – Profitable Growth” awards. He also championed diversity and inclusion initiatives, supporting the attainment of the “Top Employer” certification across four countries. In 2014, he was selected among 50 executives to lead a global transformation initiative focused on simplifying the organizational structure, bringing the company closer to the market, and fostering operational excellence. He co-led the team that defined GEA’s regional organizational model, which evolved into the current matrix structure in 2020.

Alvaro served (2015–2025) as a member of the Supervisory Board of GRADE Refrigeration LLC in the United Arab Emirates.

He holds a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and has completed executive programs at IESE and IMD. He is also a guest lecturer at business schools and universities in Spain.
